I just changed all 8 of my brake pads. The fronts were easy because I could back the piston out with a C clamp, but the rear pistons had to be twisted, and only after the caliper was removed, which meant removing them in the first place was difficult enough.
Now that’s done. Next stop: Midas, to resurface the rotors.
On the left is one of my old front pads. On the right is a new one.
Giving the ol’ disk brake thumbs up!

Why did you put the new pads on if the rotors aren’t surfaced yet? I’m confuse :/

If you’ve already put the new pads on, don’t go resurface the rotors, you’ll just have to bed them in again and be wasting money/time/wear.

The rotors aren’t even that bad. It’s not going to damage the new pads before I take it in to Midas, which should be Monday.

Yeah, but you could’ve taken the rotors to Midas or O’reillys when you were doing the pads and saved on labor and overall time.

From what I’ve heard, Midas resurfaces rotors without removing them. I could be wrong though. Either way, I can let the experts deal with the pads. I just like the peace of mind that my pads won’t turn into metal.

Around me the cost of resurfacing rotors is only slightly less than new rotors, and I drop the old rotors off at the scrap guy for ‘decent’ $.
You can borrow the tool from Autozone for the caliper, pretty easy once you have that. Although, my backyard touches and autozone, so I have an unfair advatage there...
